You can be wearing the perfect outfit, but if you choose the wrong pair of shoes, the look will fall far short of its intended impact and beauty. Shoes are the icing on the cake when it comes to looking good, failure to team the right shoes with the right outfit means the outfit will appear incomplete.
As an accessory, shoes need to match the outfit, not only in colour, but in style too. Neglecting to match the style of footwear to the style of clothing is a common fashion mistake that women make on a daily basis. For example, if wearing boat shoes, you will need to wear casual clothing a thick knit thigh length jumper and skinny jeans is perfect if wearing stiletto heels, you need to be wearing elegant clothing your little black dress or an elegant ball gown. Failure to match styles will leave you with a sense of incongruity.
Finding the perfect pair of shoes for your outfit can be difficult, particularly if you restrict your search to the real world. The internet is a lot better for finding shoes, as there is a much wider choice if you want a pair of sparkly plimsolls, then you will find them online, if you want a pair of 7 inch heels, then you will find them online. But, look for the same styles in your local shoe shop, and you are likely to be disappointed. The internet can cater to all manner of tastes, but if real world shops did the same, they would find it difficult to shift stock. Because unusual tastes, are by definition rare, and it is unlikely that they will find many customers who wish to purchase a particularly unusual style of shoe that they may have bought in, such as 7 inch heels!
For those of you who are not as up-to-date with the rules of fashion, here are a few tips to help you when choosing which shoes to wear with an outfit.
Always match your shoes to the style of dress they are intended for, if you are buying wedding shoes, for instance, buy strappy numbers in the same colour as your dress or suit, alternatively, if you are buying plimsolls for the gym, match them to the colour of your sportswear.
If you are unsure the colour suits your clothing opt for black shoes; black is the most versatile colour, and matches every colour of the rainbow.
Think about comfort a pair of shoes may look amazing, but if you cannot walk in them, you will look silly and people will notice, so, contrary to popular belief, style and comfort are compatible, they need both to be present throughout the whole outfit for a person to look great in their clothes.
